Installation notes for Speed Hump and Blade Runner (Road Spikes)

Can I install the Blade Runner or Speed Hump on a ramp?

Yes, for the Speed Hump. When installing a speed Hump on a ramp/ sloped ground, we only recommend the steel Speed Hump.

The friction from the vehicle can burn out the plastic/ rubber Speed Hump face.

No for the Blade Runner (Road Spikes).

Can I install the Blade Runner or Speed Hump on curved roadways?

The Blade Runner (Road Spikes) or Speed Hump should be clear of intersections and curved roadways per AS2890.1:2004.

These products should be installed perpendicular to the vehicle axle’s travelling direction, not where the vehicle axle is turning in. The force from the turning wheels will eventually rip the product off the floor.

Can I install the Blade Runner or Speed Hump near pedestrian traffic?

The Blade Runner (Road Spikes) or Speed Hump shall not impede pedestrian or wheelchair traffic on any accessible travel path (min 1m wide) provided for people with disabilities.

Why do I need the warning sign with the Blade Runner or Speed Hump installation?

The Speed Hump warning sign shall be used at a Speed Hump if there is some doubt whether the Hump will be visible in time for a driver to slow down to negotiate it.

The Blade Runner (Road Spikes) warning sign shall alert drivers of spike strips on the road and helps pedestrians exercise caution.

Where should I install the Speed Hump?

Our steel, polyethylene, and rubber Speed Hump (except for the round top) conform to AS2890.1:2004 Type 2 Speed Hump. This means that they are appropriate for use in car parks where the speed of vehicles mostly travels at 30km/h or less.

Can I install the Blade Runner or Speed Hump to control forklift speed?

No. We would NEVER recommend using Speed Hump and forklifts together.
