General maintenance guidance

With proper care, you can extend the lifespan of your product and make sure it looks its best!

Barrier Group recommends regular maintenance for cleaning and inspection, including checking all fittings regularly and retightening as necessary to optimise the product performance. Frequency depends on the material, finish, usage and environment.

Aluminium

Remove any loose deposits with a wet sponge carefully. Gently wipe all surfaces with clean water and mild household detergent, using only a soft, non-abrasive brush or cloth, to remove dust, salt and other residues. Wipe with clean water.

**Do not use abrasive cleaners or scrub the surface.

Stainless steel

Remove any loose deposits with a wet sponge carefully. Gently wipe all surfaces with clean water and mild household detergent, using only a soft, non-abrasive brush or cloth, to remove dust, salt and other residues. Wipe with clean water.

**Wiping should always be in the direction of the polishing lines.  

**Do not use abrasive cleaners or scrub the surface. 

Powder coated surface

Remove any loose deposits with a wet sponge carefully. Gently wipe all surfaces with clean water and mild household detergent, using only a soft, non-abrasive brush or cloth, to remove dust, salt and other residues. Wipe with clean water.

Repair and touch up the damaged coated surface. 

1/ Remove all loose and flaking coatings from the damaged area; use fine-grit sandpaper if required.

2/ Remove all dust and ensure the surface is dry.

3/ Apply zinc-rich primer if required, following the manufacturer’s instructions. Allow it to be completely dry.

4/ Apply matching colour spray or liquid paint, following the manufacturer’s instructions. Allow it to be completely dry.

**The repaired area will not have the same durability as the cured powder coating.
