The nominal dimensions of a parking space shall be min 2.4m wide x 5.4m long (*user 1 & 1A, bays at 90deg)
*Residential, domestic, employee and commuter parking
The minimum dimensions for designated spaces for small cars shall be 2.3 m wide × 5.0 m long
The minimum dimensions for motorcycles ** shall be 1.2m wide x 2.5m long.
**Motorcycle parking areas should not be located so parked motorcycles are vulnerable to being struck by a manoeuvring car.
Following AS/NZS 2890.1:2004 Parking facilities – Off-street car parking, parking spaces other than those for people with disabilities ( Specified in AS/NZS 2890.6) shall be delineated using white or yellow painted lines or white or yellow pavement markers (marking dots).
Marking parking spaces with painted lines
Unbroken lines 80 to 100 mm wide
Marking parking spaces with pavement markers (marking dots)
PARALLEL PARKING – 3 across the width of the vehicle parked position.
ANGLE PARKING – 4 across the length of the vehicle parked position.
NOTE:
Raised pavement markers such as marking dots are NOT allowed for marking disability parking spaces.
