The newly updated AS 1428.1:2021 – Design for access and mobility General requirements for access – new building work, published in June 2021, clarifies language used on stair nosing design, making 4 of our striped style stair nosing no longer comply with the new standard.

BSN101-CY | Stair Nosing 83 x 37 x 3620mm Natural Anodised with Carborundum Infill – Yellow |

The new standard specifies the stair nosing must be a “strip of ONE contrasting colour 50-75 wide” OR “ Inlaid Strip of ONE contrasting colour 50-75 wide”. This means the contrasting strip must only be a ‘single strip’ and ‘one colour’. The previous 2009 standard did not previously specify the “one” colour.
As a result, we will not reorder these stair-nosings.
All other stair nosings comply with the newly updated standard.
